The TCS NQT is the primary recruitment test for TCS. It has two parts: a Foundation Section (Numerical, Verbal, Reasoning) and an Advanced Section (Advanced Quant+Reasoning and Coding). No negative marking. Sectional time limits apply and section switching is not allowed.

The Infosys IRT (campus recruitment test) tests quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, verbal ability, pseudo code tracing, and analytical puzzles. No negative marking. The test now includes a dedicated Pseudo Code section and a Puzzle section added in recent years.
Wipro
Wipro Technologies
Wipro Elite NTH tests quantitative aptitude, verbal ability, and logical reasoning (with negative marking), followed by essay writing and a coding round. The aptitude section is strictly 1 minute per question.
Accenture
Accenture
Accenture's 2025 placement test is a 125-question, 175-minute assessment covering English, critical reasoning, abstract reasoning, MS Office basics, pseudo code, and networking/cloud fundamentals. All sections are elimination rounds with a >70% cutoff.

Amazon
Amazon's fresher aptitude test covers quantitative and verbal aptitude, reasoning, technical knowledge, and a coding round. The pattern varies by role - SDE roles have a heavier coding and DSA focus. No negative marking.
HCL
HCL Technologies
HCL Tech's placement test is an adaptive online exam covering quantitative aptitude, verbal ability, logical reasoning, technical knowledge, and a coding section. The adaptive nature means difficulty adjusts based on your performance.
Cognizant
Cognizant Technology Solutions
Cognizant has three hiring tracks: GenC (standard aptitude), GenC Next (aptitude + cluster-based technical test), and GenC Elevate (coding + SQL only, premium package). All tracks begin with the same 80-question aptitude test.

Capgemini
Capgemini's 2025 recruitment (Exceller program) uses game-based aptitude instead of traditional MCQ tests, along with a technical pseudo code test, essay writing, and a behavioral assessment. No negative marking. Coding is optional and determines salary tier.

SSC CGL
Staff Selection Commission
SSC CGL is the premier exam for Group B and C posts in central government. Tier 1 (qualifying) has 100 questions in 60 min across four sections. Tier 2 is the merit-deciding stage with higher difficulty across Math, Reasoning, English, and GK.
SSC CHSL
Staff Selection Commission
SSC CHSL recruits for LDC, DEO, and Postal Assistant posts. Tier 1 has 100 questions in 60 min with negative marking. Tier 2 is the merit-deciding stage covering Math, Reasoning, English, and GK along with a qualifying computer/typing test.
IBPS PO
Institute of Banking Personnel Selection
IBPS PO is for Probationary Officer posts in public sector banks. Prelims (100 Q, 60 min) is qualifying. Mains (145 Q, 160 min - reduced from 155 Q/180 min in 2025) plus a 30-min Descriptive Test determine merit. Sectional cutoffs apply at both stages.

IBPS Clerk Prelims is a 100-question qualifying exam with 20-minute sectional time limits for English, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning. Mains is merit-deciding. Negative marking of 0.25 applies.
SBI PO
State Bank of India
SBI PO is one of the most competitive banking exams. Key difference from IBPS PO: Prelims has 40 English questions (not 30). Mains Descriptive carries 50 marks. Final selection includes Group Discussion (20 marks) and Interview (30 marks).
UPSC CSE
Union Public Service Commission
UPSC Prelims Paper II (CSAT) is a qualifying test requiring 33% (66/200 marks). No sectional divisions officially - it's an integrated 80-question paper covering comprehension, reasoning, and basic numeracy. Comprehension has dominated recent papers.
RRB NTPC
Railway Recruitment Board
RRB NTPC recruits for various railway non-technical posts. CBT 1 (screening, 100 Q, 90 min) is qualifying. CBT 2 (merit-deciding, 120 Q, 90 min) has higher difficulty. Negative marking of 1/3 applies to both stages.
CDS
Union Public Service Commission
CDS selects candidates for IMA, INA, AFA, and OTA. Three papers: English (120 Q), Elementary Mathematics (100 Q), and General Knowledge (120 Q), each 120 minutes. Negative marking of 1/3 applies. OTA candidates take English and GK only.
Academic & Entrance

IITs and IISc
GATE tests core engineering and science concepts for M.Tech admission and PSU recruitment. The General Aptitude section (15 marks, 10 questions) is identical across all papers. For CS/IT, the remaining 85 marks cover core CS subjects. GATE score is valid for 3 years.
CAT
Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs)
CAT is India's premier MBA entrance exam. Three sections of 40 minutes each (cannot switch between sections). Mix of MCQ (negative marking) and TITA/non-MCQ questions (no negative marking). Scaled percentile scores are used for IIM shortlisting.
IELTS
British Council / IDP
IELTS tests English language proficiency for studying, working, or migrating abroad. The Academic version includes complex reading and academic writing tasks. Scored 0–9 in 0.5 band increments. Most universities require 6.0–7.5+.
TOEFL
Educational Testing Service (ETS)
TOEFL iBT tests academic English for study abroad. Accepted by 12,000+ universities in 160 countries. Total score: 0–120 (each of 4 sections scored 0–30). Most universities require 80–100+.
